Playground Update

On Monday of this week, the final pieces of the new playground were installed. The fence around the new park has stayed up to protect the sod and grass and to protect from mud and dirt getting onto the Pour and Play surface. By waiting a few days before opening up to play, we hope to allow the landscaping to take root and to ensure the surface is given time to cure. The fencing will be removed early next week and the new equipment will be open for use!

Terry Fox Run

The students, staff and parent community participated in the annual Terry Fox Run on Thursday, September 21^st. The event kicked off with an assembly and warm-up (led by a group of grade 6 students). Partner School Request

Our partner school, James Short School, is in desperate need of the following clothing items:

• Pants – size 5-10 (ages 5-10 years)
• New underwear
• New socks (children sizes)

Items for donation can be dropped at the school office. Thank you for your support.

School Council and Fundraising Society

EPPS Casino 2023 Fundraiser – Confirmed October 10 & 11

This update brought to you by the Elbow Park Parent Society (EPPS). Under the School Act, a parent society is a formal group of parents, incorporated under the Societies Act for the purpose of raising funds for the school. For more information about our Society and what our fundraising dollars have supported, please visit the Parent Society webpage.

• Our dates are October 10 & 11, 2021 for Elbow Park’s bi-annual casino fundraiser at Cowboy’s Casino
• Society is asking you to please volunteer for this valuable fundraiser – mark the date, signup sheet link is below!
• This is a critical fundraising activity for the school, and accounts for a significant portion of our fundraising proceeds.  In the past this event typically averages $60,000 every other year and is necessary to ensure that we are able to continue to deliver the level of support we are used to seeing to the school.  
  • Location: Cowboy’s Casino (421 12 Ave SE) – underground parking is available for free
  • Food is provided
  • Great way to meet fellow parents!

Halloween Dance Volunteer Needed!

The grade 6 students organize a Haunted House as part of the Halloween Dance. The organizers of the dance are looking for a parent of a grade 6 student to lead this event. If you are able to take this on, please contact the Fundraising Society volunteer coordinator at:

Traffic Safety and Parking Lots

We have been reminding students not to ride bikes, skateboards or scooters on school grounds. Additionally, we ask that students (and parents) not enter the school yard through the parking lots. Your help in reinforcing this with your child(ren) is appreciated.

I would also encourage all parents to utilize the marked crosswalks to access the school. This is a great safety habit for all students to learn and to apply to their everyday life.
