Centennial 2026
Elbow Park School is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year!
Time Capsule Ceremony
Front doors open at 9:00 a.m. on October 2.
On Friday, October 2, 2026, we are hosting an open house for alumni and the community to see our school and walk our halls. Our formal ceremony will begin at 9:30 and will focus on the role our school has played as the heart of the community. Our students will be filling a new time capsule and sharing their role in the creation of the new time capsule landmark.
On September 30, we opened the time capsule underneath the cornerstone and removed the two copper boxes that are the time capsules from 1926 and 1976. The contents of these will be shared at our ceremony on Friday, October 2, 2026.
Our ceremony will run from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. and visitors are welcome to tour our school afterwards.

In anticipation of this milestone, students throughout the 2025–26 school year explored the rich history of our school and surrounding area — from the time when the Treaty 7 peoples lived on this land to the present day.
As part of their learning, students examined historical artifacts and connected with some long-time Elbow Park residents to hear stories from the past.
We invite community members to look through your old class photos, yearbooks, and other school memorabilia and share images or artefacts that you may have. We would love to have them on display for our students to explore - please contact the school to make arrangements.
In 2025-26, we partnered with Calgary Opera for a full-year residency program integrating the arts with Language Arts curricular outcomes to create our own opera. We had three performances on June 4 and 5. The show can be viewed on our school's YouTube channel here.
