A Note from the new Principal  

Good morning, Elbow Park School community. My name is Jeff Campbell, and I am the new interim Principal. I’ve had a great week meeting students, staff and parents. I am a retired educator who spent 33 years as an elementary school teacher, Jr. High school volleyball coach, and Principal.   I have the privilege of supporting schools in short term contracts, and it is a pleasure to see the unique and diverse school cultures across the Calgary Board of Education. Even after my short time here, I can tell you there’s something special about the secret sauce in Elbow Park School – it's a warm, welcoming and vibrant environment in which students can grow and learn. 

I’m in the process of learning 400+ new names, but I would love to meet you and your family. Please stop by and say hello.

Upcoming Events 

October 16-19     Grade 5/6 Outdoor School at Camp Chief Hector – This is always a favorite event for our students, but it is one that requires a lot of staff time and commitment.  Our thanks to those who are making this event possible. (note from Mr. Campbell – personally, I’m looking forward to joining the students at camp on Wednesday and Thursday).

Physical Education 

Phys. Ed. will continue to be held outdoors. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. This includes footwear that is appropriate for outdoor activity. 

Forms 

Most of the opening day forms have now been returned to the office. If you have not already done so, please complete and submit all forms (the forms package that was sent home or online) as soon as possible. Thank you for your help with this. 

Partner School Request 

Our partner school, James Short School, is in desperate need of the following clothing items: 

Pants – size 5-10 (ages 5-10 years) 

New underwear  

New socks (children's sizes) 

Items for donation can be dropped at the school office. Thank you for your support. 

Note – we will be providing more details around collecting winter clothing soon 

School Council and Fundraising Society 

EPPS Casino 2023 Fundraiser 

This week many of our parents volunteered at Cowboys Casino to raise money for Elbow Park School. Many of the shifts required parents to volunteer through the night, including an extra busy stretch following the Calgary Flames home opener!  Our students will benefit from these funds raised to bring additional educational resources and experiences into the school. Thanks so much to all those parents who volunteered their time for this fundraiser.
