Weekly Update November 24

Good morning Elbow Park School Community. It was great to see many parents who joined us on-line or in-person for our School Council/Parent Society meeting on Wednesday. I appreciate how many events are keeping parents busy these days, but taking time to join these meetings every 6 weeks (roughly) is a really important way to understand your school and the system of which it is a part. Further, this is the avenue to provide feedback/input to the school to ensure your priorities and values are understood.

Our teachers valued the time to meet with parents at our Learning Conferences over the past two days. If you didn't get a chance to meet your child's teacher, I encourage you to contact the school to arrange a time.

On behalf of our staff, we extend a sincere thanks to the many families who provided Thursday supper and Friday breakfast - what an aboslute treat.  Thank you.

The following information is provided to help you and your family stay updated on the events of the school.

Kind Regards

Mr. Campbell

Volunteers at Elbow Park School
We appreciate the many people who offer their time to support student learning at Elbow Park School. There are many ways in which parents and other family members can get involved - not all of which involve coming into the school. I encourage you to reach out to our volunteer coordinator, Erin McCaffery  at elbowparkschoolvolunteers@gmail.com

Clothing Drive
Elbow Park School families have been extremely generous in their support of our sister school, James Short Memorial School (JSMS).  JSMS is still using donated clothing items from last year, so they do not need any more for this year. This year we encourage you to donate your used winter clothing to another agency. Thank you for your on-going support of JSMS.

Winter Concert
Ms. Hanratty and Mr. Daga have been busy preparing our students for our upcoming Winter Celebration concert - Up on the House Top!
This year we are planning two shows:
Dec 13 - 6:00pm - this is a ticketed show (2 tickets per student)
Dec 14 - 10:00am - this is a non-ticketed show (we are hoping to reduce the demand on the evening show by offering this day-time performance) (note - this is not a dress-rehearsal - it is the same, full show as Dec 13)

We may need some support from parents for preparing costumes and props. Please watch for an email for your Room Parent for more details.

Upcoming Events

Dec 4-7 - Rocks and Rings Curling residency - in Physical Education classes
Dec 13 @ 6:00pm - Winter Celebration Concert - evening performance (ticketed)
Dec 14 @ 10:00am - Winter Celebration Concert - day performance (non-ticketed)
Dec 22 - Last Day of school before Winter break
