Good afternoon EPS Families,

We extend a big thank you to the many parents who organized and helped out with our Fun Lunch this week. That single event put a lot of smiles on faces of students and staff!  Thank you.

Thanks also to the many families who have or are planning to donate items to our James Short Memorial School Family Hampers.  We know there is considerable need throughout our city this year - we appreciate your generosity to this cause. 

Each school year we analyze student learning and develop 3 goal areas on which to focus our professional learning and resources. This year our three goal areas are:
- improving student writingt
- improving students' abilities to solve complex math problems
- improving student resilience

Today we worked as a staff to closely assess student writing and then explored new and creative ways in which we can help students improve those skills.  We look forward to sharing more of our professional learning progress throughout the school year.

Our upcoming week has some key ways in which we hope parents, guardians, and other family members will join us.  Please read forward for more information.

Winter Concert
Our students are really sounding good as we approach our upcoming Winter Celebration concert - Up on the House Top!  We hope you are saving the date for either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning - both concerts will showcase the same student performances.

Through a random draw we have assigned seats for the Wednesday evening show, however if you do not require those evening tickets, we ask you to contact us at the school. Tickets will be sent home with students next week.

This year we are planning two shows:
Dec 13 - 6:00pm - this is a ticketed show (2 tickets per student)
Dec 14 - 10:00am - this is a non-ticketed show (we are hoping to reduce the demand on the evening show by offering this day-time performance) (note - this is not a dress-rehearsal - it is the same, full show as Dec 13)
