Weekly Update December 15

Good afternoon Elbow Park School Community. Wow, what an amazing week at the school! Our community came out in numbers for two performances and our students did not disappoint. Punctuated with enthusisam, our students put on two great shows, highlighting their skills and talents in the performing arts. Big thanks to Ms. Hanratty and Mr. Daga for their committment and passion that enabled these performances to reach these heights.

If the good vibrations that came from the Winter Celebration Concerts weren't enough, today we had even more cause to celebrate as students and parent volunteers worked together to support and spread cheer by wrapping presents for 10 families from our sister school, James Short Memorial School. Supported by so many families in our school, this event created such a great feeling in our school - the feelings that come from working together and helping others. Such strong messages and learning for our students.

Thanks so much to the many parents who donated so generously and gave so much of their time to organize the Elbow Park Christmas Hamper Drive 2023!  Click the link for more on our Christmas Hamper Drive.

In our upcoming week, I'd like to draw your attention to another important event. Just as we teach children to understand their world from different perspectives such as Mathematics, Fine Art and Sciences, so too do we want our students to understand the perspectives of our First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples. On December 21 we will be taking our students outside to learn more about our local environment. Learning from the Land presents us with an opportunity to teach children about Indigenous ways of knowing.

Kind Regards

Mr. Campbell
