School Planning Online Survey

We are seeking feedback from families on school planning, which includes the school development plan, school budget, and school fees. When students, staff and families work closely together, students experience greater success.

Visit the Get Involved - Community Engagement webpage on our school website to view our current school planning presentation prior to completing this survey. It is a PDF slideshow presentation that was explained at our recent School Council Meeting on March 13, and there is a 3 minute video on YouTube from the CBE explaining our process linked on the same webpage.

This survey covers our school budget, fees charged to parents and information about our class configurations for next school year.

The survey closes on March 31 at midnight. Click here to begin the 14 minute survey.

Parent Feedback from Class Configuration Workshops

A parent feedback document has been posted to our School Planning Engagement webpage that includes all comments provided in the in-person workshop session as they were written. It also includes parent-created configurations based on the constraints provided at the workshop. Colour coding was added by administration with common themes.

Timelines for decision-making for next year planning:

  1. Principal consults teachers (March)
  2. Online School Planning Survey to Parents to offer priorities regarding class configurations (by March 31)
  3. Budget is received in late March / early April
  4. Staffing budget approved in April
  5. May 8 Council meeting – final configuration shared

Residencies and Field Trips

As we start thinking about next school year, our teachers are selecting whole-school residencies and field trips that align with our School Development Plan goals (literacy, numeracy, wellness), CBE Education Plan, teacher unit plans from curriculum and professional development needs for teachers.

In April, as per Section 33 of CBE Administrative Regulation 5001, the Principal meets with Council and Society Chairs “to review and agree upon fundraising goals and events, and agree on donation of supplies, services and society expenses.” During our May 8 School Council AGM, we will be tabling next year’s list of residencies, enrichment opportunities and school equipment/upgrades for discussion.

To see a historical list of the large variety of experiences students receive here at Elbow Park School through the generous donations of our learning community, please review the March 13 Principal’s Report.
