Principal’s Message
A huge thank you to the parent volunteers who organized our Halloween party last night. By all accounts it was a spooky affair! Students were a little subdued this morning in class! This was followed up by an amazing dance party organized by Mr. Daga in our gymnasium after our costume parade. Parent turnout was amazing as well!
Next week, we look forward to hosting Miranda Krogstad, a Calgary-based spoken word poet and published best-selling author. Thanks to EPPS parent society fundraising, we are able to offer a 3-day workshop for K-6 students. Each grade has selected a curriculum linked program which aligns with our school development plan literacy goal of writing/speaking with a particular audience in mind. She will be working with students from Monday to Wednesday next week.
We are beginning to collect donations for the Calgary Veterans Food Bank. Their fall and winter wish list includes items such as: hamburger helper, instant hash browns, chunky soups, coffee/tea, ketchup, mustard, men's deodorant, kleenex and paper towels. Veteran Food Bank List.
We have already starting to collect clothing for our annual Mountain of Warmth clothing drive. See more details in the story below.

Mountain of Warmth Clothing Drive
Our school continues to support James Short Memorial School with many initiatives, including donations of clothing. We are in direct contact with the school and so the request for clothing is specifically needs-driven. This is not a call for general donations.
Families are in specific need of winter clothing. There is a particular need for the following items:
NEW OR GENTLY USED (clean, zippers working, buttons attached):
Girls and boys (size 4-12)
· Underwear – brand new in packaging only please
· pants and sweat pants
· shirts
· winter gloves
· winter jackets/snow pants
Before you drop your items at our school office, please:
1. sort by gender (where applicable) and size
2. bag/box and
3. label each bag/box e.g. Girl age 8
Have a safe and spooky weekend,
Jason Fech
