Dear Parents & Guardians:
Please pay your Noon Supervision fees ($350/year) that have recently been posted.
Principal’s Message
With the inclement weather today, this is a reminder to families that students do go outside on a daily basis for morning and lunch recess, despite the weather. Please ensure your children are dressed appropriately for the conditions.
A reminder that for our parent-run Halloween party on Thursday night, the event is only for current Elbow Park students (and younger siblings) who are directly supervised by their own parents. On Friday, students may come dressed in costumes for the morning. We will be having a costume parade through the classrooms starting at 10:50 and they will end up in the gymnasium for a dance party after. Please leave weapon-related accessories and excessive gore at home. Parents are welcome to attend.
We are starting to collect clothing for our annual Mountain of Warmth. We do currently have two coat racks full of hoodies and jackets. Items not claimed will be donated; please come to the school and take a look (see photo in web story).

Mountain of Warmth Clothing Drive
Our school continues to support James Short Memorial School with many initiatives, including donations of clothing. We are in direct contact with the school and so the request for clothing is specifically needs-driven. This is not a call for general donations.
Families are in specific need of winter clothing. There is a particular need for the following items:
NEW OR GENTLY USED (clean, zippers working, buttons attached):
Girls and boys (size 4-12)
· Underwear – brand new in packaging only please
· pants and sweat pants
· shirts
· winter gloves
· winter jackets/snow pants
Before you drop your items at our school office, please:
1. sort by gender (where applicable) and size
2. bag/box and
3. label each bag/box e.g. Girl age 8
Head Lice Notice
Today, the school received another notice of one student with head lice in our grades 4-5 classes. Appropriate treatment was sought immediately. As per AHS documentation, once treated, a child may continue to attend school.
As with all matters related to health, we take our guidance from Alberta Health Services and other health authorities. Please encourage your children not to share personal items such as hats, hair accessories, or headphones. They should also avoid head-to-head contact during play or group activities.
It is important and necessary for you to be informed of this so you can check your child for any signs of lice. Please reference the following AHS documents for information about head lice and how to treat them:
· How to Treat Head Lice (alberta.ca)
· Head Lice in Children (alberta.ca)
If you have additional questions please contact Health Link Alberta at 8-1-1 or your health care provider

Centennial Time Capsule & Alumni Fundraiser
Our Centennial celebration was showcased on https://www.cbe.ab.ca/news/elbow-park-celebrates-100-years and includes a quick video of highlights from our day. Our time capsule contents are on display in our office if parents wish to see a bit of our school’s history. There is work still to do in preparing these artefacts along with our new time capsule for storage. We are hoping that some parents could volunteer to help prepare your children’s contributions for 50 years from now. Please reach out to Mr. Fech if you are able to assist.
School Council is also promoting an alumni fundraiser to build our Centennial Landmark brick bench. There is a PDF and QR code on our School Spirit – Centennial landing page. This bench has been designed by students and the contents of our current time capsule were also selected by students in each homeroom. This fundraiser promotes community connections and allows our students to reflect on their own values and experiences in our school. If you know of any alumni who would be willing to support our school, please share our School Spirit webpage to help spread the word about our cornerstone. There is a fundraiser flyer for download or share this link to our Alumni Centennial Fund to make a tax-deductible donation.

Have a great weekend,
