Principal’s Message
As our school is a voting station for Monday's referendum, there are no classes for students but it is a professional development day for teachers. We will be reviewing and working to implement new math resources that align with the Alberta mathematics curriculum. In our staff meeting this afternoon, we will be reviewing our Provincial Achievement Test (PAT) results from June along with parent and student data from the spring. This data will inform our School Development Plan that will be shared at our upcoming school council meeting in November.
The nice weather this aligned with our flag football unit that was led by the Calgary Flames Classroom Crew. They had nothing to say but good things about our students conduct and athletic abilities! They were awesome with the kids and allowed our teachers to focus on assessing fundamental movement and coordination skills.
Halloween Howler Party
Join for a spooky dance party, haunted house, food trucks, costume competition, treats and prizes!
· Thursday, October 29 | 5:30 to 7:30 PM | EPS Gym
· Free event with registration
· Open to students, parents and younger siblings (adult supervision required)
· RSVP here and sign-up for volunteer shifts here
A big THANK YOU to society and the school for making the event possible, Jalaine Lewko and Erin McCaffery for their guidance in planning, Chelsea McNamara and the Grade 4/5 team for bringing the dance to life, and Nicole Fahlman and the Grade 6 team for supporting the Grade 6 students on the popular Haunted House tradition.
Centennial Time Capsule & Alumni Fundraiser
Our Centennial celebration was showcased on https://www.cbe.ab.ca/news/elbow-park-celebrates-100-years and includes a quick video of highlights from our day. Our time capsule contents are on display in our office if parents wish to see a bit of our school’s history. There is work still to do in preparing these artefacts along with our new time capsule for storage. We are hoping that some parents could volunteer to help prepare your children’s contributions for 50 years from now. Please reach out to Mr. Fech if you are able to assist.
School Council is also promoting an alumni fundraiser to build our Centennial Landmark brick bench. There is a PDF and QR code on our School Spirit – Centennial landing page. This bench has been designed by students and the contents of our current time capsule were also selected by students in each homeroom. This fundraiser promotes community connections and allows our students to reflect on their own values and experiences in our school. If you know of any alumni who would be willing to support our school, please share our School Spirit webpage to help spread the word about our cornerstone. There is a fundraiser flyer for download or share this link to our Alumni Centennial Fund to make a tax-deductible donation.

Have a great weekend,
