Remembrance Day

Students spent time this week learning about our veterans and each homeroom made a wreath to be lain. We held in-class ceremonies to mark the occasion which allowed some classes to join together and share common understandings from the lessons they learned. All classes held a moment of silence and heard the Last Post and Reveille.  

EPPS Society AGM

Please join us for the Elbow Park School Society AGM on Nov 20th, 2025 from 7.30pm -8.30pm in the Learning Commons at EPS. On the agenda will be a review of the financial statements for the 2024-2025 school year, as well as the election of the new executive going forward. 

We are looking for volunteers to join our parent society. In particular, there are 2 open positions for a new vice president and secretary. Please email Risa (risadesa@gmail.com) if you are interested. 

Being a part of Society is a fulfilling way to volunteer at our school. Our Parent Society raises and manages funds for the school with the purpose of enhancing the success and enjoyment of the children at the school. Key areas that society supports are residencies related to core subject, physical education and the arts; facility upgrades; and administrative support where applicable. Please consider donating your valuable time.

15 Casino Volunteers Needed Please

The Elbow Park Parent Society (EPPS) Casino is still short of *15* volunteers for Nov 23 and 24, 2025 (Sunday and Monday).  Without volunteers, we are unable to run the casino.  The casino is a key source of our annual funding; details of how we use the proceeds are provided below.

Background on the casino:

Every two years, we have the opportunity to run a casino with Elbow Park parent community volunteers, to raise funds for the EPPS.  The casino funds more than half of our overall Society budget, which allows us to offer unique programming to EPS students. 

Please consider supporting this valuable fundraiser:

·         When: Sun, Nov. 23 and Mon, Nov. 24; daytime and evening shifts

·         Where: Cowboy's Casino (421 12 Ave SE)

·         What is needed: volunteers to support casino activities - training and support is provided for all volunteers on the day.

In a typical school year, EPPS pays for a variety of experiences and enhancements for your children:

·         Academic residencies including theatre, dance, in-line skating, skiing, lacrosse and Aussie rules football, totalling around $20,000. 

·         Art supplies, PE equipment, math and science resources total around $10,000

·         Facility enhancements such as the outdoor boulder classroom, naturalization area tree planting, patio tables are budgeted to be around $10,000 per year

·         Other smaller items including classroombudgets for consumable learning materials, music equipment repair, iPad apps, concert lighting and leveled and/or decodable reading materials are budgeted at around $5000
