Casino Volunteers - Last Desperate Call…
We are still in need of four (4) parent volunteers for the final casino shift on Monday night, 24 Nov, from 7pm-3am: two for the count-room and two on-call.
Without sufficient volunteers, we are unable to run the casino, and risk losing a key source of our annual funding for events and activities at the school (enrichment programs, residencies, PE programs and so on).
Please consider supporting this valuable fundraiser:
· When: Sun, Nov. 23 and Mon, Nov. 24; daytime and evening shifts
· Where: Cowboy's Casino (421 12 Ave SE)
· What is needed: volunteers to support casino activities - training and support is provided for all volunteers on the day.
If you are able to do so, please sign up for one of the outstanding slots using this link
Parent/Teacher Conference Bookings
The online booking calendar for our upcoming in-person parent/teacher conferences opens this Sunday, November 23 at 6:00 p.m.
· Please book a conference ONLY with your homeroom teacher.
· Time slots are 15 minutes this year.
· Do NOT book back to back time slots to allow travel time between appointments
Please log in to your MyCBE account to reserve your time. We recommend adding these details to your email calendar to keep track of meeting times and links.
Parent/Teacher Conference Format (Nov. 27 & 28)
These conferences provide an important opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations about your child’s learning. Parents/guardians, students, and teachers are able to connect and communicate openly about areas of strength and growth. These discussions help build and sustain respectful relationships that support student success. Prior to your conference, please take time with your child to review PowerSchool for updated grades and review the work samples that were sent home during the first week of October, ensuring a focused and informed discussion. If possible, please include your child in the conference as their voice is vital to understanding the next steps in their learning.
Given the recent teacher strike and its impact on assessment timelines, teachers are continuing to update and analyze student data. While they will share available evidence of learning, we ask that families keep in mind that assessment information may still be in progress at this time. The focus of conferences will be on reconnecting, understanding current progress, and planning meaningful next steps to support each student’s continued growth.
We look forward to seeing you and your child at conferences and continuing our shared work in supporting their success.

Mountain of Warmth Clothing Drive
Our school continues to support James Short Memorial School with many initiatives, including donations of clothing. We are in direct contact with the school and so the request for clothing is specifically needs-driven. This is not a call for general donations.
Families are in specific need of winter clothing. There is particular need for the following items:
NEW OR GENTLY USED (clean, zippers working, buttons attached):
· Snow pants up to size 12
· Winter coats up to size 12
· Unisex and boys’ indoor pants up to size 12 (e.g. sweat pants or jeans)
· Winter boots size 11-4 only
NEW:
· Boys’ underwear size 5-7 and 9-12 (they are fully stocked in size 8)
· Girls’ underwear size 5, 7 and 9-12 (they are fully stocked in sizes 6 and 8)
Before you drop your items at our school office, please:
- sort by gender (where applicable) and size
- bag/box and
- label each bag/box e.g. Girl age 8
We currently only have one parent organizing this important initiative and would love to have more parents support this cause. Please reply to this email if you are interested in helping out.
