Notice: Head Lice

The school is aware of increasing cases of head lice in students. Information has been shared with impacted grades yesterday and earlier today. As with all matters related to health, we take our guidance from Alberta Health Services and other health authorities.

Information has been provided from the AHS school nurse about lice and how to treat it. It is important and necessary for you to be informed of this so you can check your child for any signs of head lice.

As well, please encourage your children not to share personal items such as hats, hair accessories, or headphones. They should also avoid head-to-head contact during play or group activities.

As per AHS documentation, once treated, a child may continue to attend school. Please reference the following AHS documents for information about head lice and how to treat them:

·         How to Treat Head Lice (alberta.ca)

·         Head Lice (alberta.ca)

·         Head Lice in Children (alberta.ca)

If you have additional questions please contact Health Link Alberta at 8-1-1 or your health care provider.

We hope that by working together we can reduce the spread in the school.

Hats & Sunscreen Next Week (PE Classes Outdoors)

Our next physical education unit is Track & Field. Given the warm and sunny forecast, please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately. Consider sunscreen and a hat please.
