Staffing Updates for 2025-26
We have a few staff updates to share with you as we end our school year. With such a small staff, it is hard to say good-bye to good people who have been a big part of the Elbow Park Staff family. We wish them well in their new assignments and know that their school communities are lucky to have them. With change comes exciting opportunities ahead for all.
In our classrooms, we congratulate Joe Burima for taking on a leadership opportunity at Maple Ridge School as a Learning Leader. We welcome Kim Bercovice from the Science Program at Valley View School in his place. We also wish Sylvia LeGeyt the best as she moves to Lake Bonavista School where she accepted a teacher exchange with Lauren Link, who will be joining us at Elbow Park.
We are also saying good-bye to Candace von Stackelberg, our Lunch Supervisor for Mrs. Goodmanson and Ms. Farrell as she has accepted a position at Dr. George Stanley School in the same role. We have not yet hired a replacement.
A reminder that on Thursday, August 28, after 4:00 PM, homeroom teachers will email families to let them know whose class their child has been assigned to. Again, as a reminder, we do not accept requests for specific teachers and we work hard to ensure that students land in the most appropriate learning environment in which they will meet their best personal potential and achieve academic success.
Truth and Reconciliation Renewal
In recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, Elbow Park School is renewing our call to action for Truth and Reconciliation. Students have been learning about the significance of the Summer Solstice in class and students may be taking walking field trips nearby to learn from the land this week. We have benefitted from some teachings with Knowledge Keeper Anita Crowshoe in the spring as she worked with Grades 1-4. She shared oral storytelling ways of the Blackfoot and how to build trust in relationships to help expand our knowledge and experiences here at school.
As we look forward to next year, we will continue to strive to achieve the following commitment: 62.3: Utilize Indigenous knowledge, languages, and teaching methods in classrooms with a focus on applying learning that includes inviting Indigenous community members to share teachings with students. We will do this through a focus on: Body - To Do: Engage the school community to learn about the land where your school is located. Have students, staff, and families share their learning and make commitments to Truth & ReconciliACTION through the CBE Land Acknowledgement.
Approved Elbow Park (CBE) Calendar (2025-26)
Our calendar for next year has been approved and is posted on our website as a PDF. The web-based version of the calendar will be updated over the summer.
Student Medication
Any student medication stored in the office will be sent home with students on Thursday, June 26. If you would prefer to collect the medication yourself on that day, or require it earlier, please email the office (elbowpark@cbe.ab.ca) and we will hold the medication aside for collection.
Lost & Found
We have many hoodies and sweaters (about 50) in our lost and found. Please make a point of coming into the building to claim any lost items. Anything left behind will be washed and donated to James Short Memorial School. Please view photos below on this page.
Accessing Online Report Cards through MyCBE
Families will be able to view online student report cards for Kindergarten to Grade 12 between June 25 to July 25, 2025. Report cards for the 2024-25 school year may be viewed, downloaded and/or printed.
Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App.
Need Help? Check out these videos for more information on how to log in and navigate the portal when you have more than one child attending CBE schools
Child’s Play Child Care
Please register now if you intend to access drop-in care next school year. Registration is required for this. To better meet the before and after school care needs of our community, we have found a provider who offers flexible drop-in care (1-4 days) as well as full-time care. Their fees are as follows:
Please see our Before & After School Care webpage for fees and more details regarding registration.
